Life of an Architect Playhouse Competition – March/April 2017

This is Not a Playhouse seeks to strip away the traditional formal and stylistic trappings of children’s playhouses, leaving children’s imaginations to run wild. Recalling Magritte’s The Treachery of Images the spatial qualities and proportions clearly demarcate the structure as a child’s playhouse, however the building’s true identity lies within the imagination of the children playing. Castle, spaceship, boat, submarine, image and language no longer define limitations of structure.
