Reykjavik Sunset

Reykjavik Sunset, 2017, 10×20, Acrylic on Canvas, $200

Perhaps Reykjavik’s most well known and prominent landmark, Hallgrimskirkja is designed as a basalt pillar shooting up through the earth heading towards the sky and God. Utilitarian and a bit brutalist in it’s use of unadorned concrete, the church shines during Iceland’s sunsets turning gray into fiery red. I strived to capture the magic of this transformation in the painting.

Exhibited in OUTside the PRACTICE at Bridgeport Art Center, Chicago 2018
